The Pure Food Co is pleased to announce it is partnering with Regis Aged Care, one of Australia’s largest and most respected aged care operators, to provide high quality, nutritious and delicious meals to its residents on texture-modified diets.
The Pure Food Co, recognised last year at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards as providing the best food and nutrition system to improve the health of older people, will bring a smorgasbord of chef-inspired meals to residents at Regis’s 67 facilities across Australia.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in the New Zealand-born company’s growth journey in Australia, bolstering its reputation as the market leader in the country.
The Pure Food Co co-founder and co-CEO Sam Bridgewater said the partnership with Regis was based on a shared passion for ensuring mealtimes were a delicious, nourishing experience every older Aussie looks forward to.
“Food is an absolutely essential part of the human experience, and it should nourish us, body and soul,” Bridgewater said.
“Regis understands this and we’re just so thrilled to be helping ensure that every one of their residents, wherever they are on their ageing journey, doesn’t just enjoy their food but has a memorable dining experience.”
To embed the specialised Pure Food Co system into Regis homes, the company has provided more than 300,000 training hours to Regis staff.
“A partnership of this scale, with such a highly respected national operator, is a huge stride forward for our fast-growing Australian business,” Bridgewater said.
Bridgewater, who started the company after his step-father became ill and couldn’t find meals he wanted to eat – slowing his recovery – said the benefits of The Pure Food Co meals speak for themselves.
“Through our work with aged care providers and hospitals, we’ve been able to show that weight loss in residents has fallen by 38 per cent, falls have reduced by 27 per cent and wound care has reduced by 26 per cent, because people are healthier and they’re healing at a faster rate.”
Linda Mellors, Regis Managing Director and CEO, said: “Partnering with The Pure Food Co for this subset of meal types underscores our unwavering commitment to continuously enhance the dining experience and providing the best options for our residents,” Mellors said.
“This provides Regis an exciting opportunity to create new products, offering more choice and nutritious options for residents.”
Regis’s partnership with The Pure Food Co has been endorsed by speech pathologists and dietitians, with expected benefits including improved culinary experience, increased food intake due to greater choice, flavours, and textures, enhanced quality, nutrition, and allergy management, improved clinical results, and ongoing compliance with the new aged care quality standards and the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework.
