Food safety has always underpinned everything we do.
For older people living with swallowing difficulties, every meal needs to be not only nutritious and enjoyable, but consistently safe. That’s why The Pure Food Co has made a significant six-figure investment in new X-ray inspection technology, adding another layer of protection to the meals we produce for aged care providers.
The new system scans every finished meal tray before it leaves our Auckland manufacturing facility. Unlike sample testing, every tray in every production run is inspected for hard foreign materials such as bone fragments, stone, grit, glass and metal, providing an additional safeguard before meals reach residents.
The investment comes at a time when food safety and nutrition are receiving unprecedented attention across the aged care sector.
Recent coronial investigations into aged care choking deaths have only reinforced the importance of robust systems that protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
As our co-founder and co-CEO, Sam Bridgewater, explains, The Pure Food Co will leave no stone unturned when it comes to food safety.
“Food safety has always been an absolute non-negotiable for us, and this provides an extra layer of assurance for operators who are now really under the microscope.
“This is not sample testing. Every tray in every production run is scanned before it leaves our facility, giving our customers confidence that we’ve taken every reasonable step to help protect their residents.”
The X-ray technology is capable of detecting contaminants as small as a fragment of bone the size of the tip of a pen. It also supports product integrity checks and full batch traceability, strengthening the quality systems that already underpin our manufacturing processes.
As aged care providers continue to navigate increasing regulatory expectations and growing operational complexity, consistency has never been more important.
With providers operating larger networks than ever before, food safety systems need to be systematic, reliable and scalable across every home.
At The Pure Food Co, we believe innovation should always have a clear purpose.
This investment is all about giving aged care providers greater confidence by strengthening the systems that support resident safety, ensuring every meal we produce meets the high standards our customers – and the people they care for – rightly expect.
Because when it comes to resident safety, you simply can’t leave anything to chance.
